Our Technology

Cardiopulmonary Exercise Test (CPET)

This important test detects cardiovascular disease and coronary artery disease. It’s especially important for women, since conventional screening frequently misses the diagnosis.CPET Involves pedaling a stationary bike at increasing levels of difficulty, while your electrocardiogram, heart rate, and blood pressure are monitored for any abnormal rhythm. Physiologic measurements like oxygen consumption – the best measure of aerobic fitness – show aspects of cardiovascular function missed by conventional stress tests.

Carotid Intima Media Thickness test (CIMT)

HeartSmartIMTplus™ is a non-invasive, state-of-the-art, cost-effective diagnostic tool for the earliest detection of cardiovascular disease. Safe, painless and convenient, it takes only 10 – 15 minutes in our office. With advanced ultrasound technology, we measure the thickness of the intima media layers of the carotid arterial wall. Thickening of that layer, due to inflammation, is the earliest sign of cardiovascular disease. It shows long before plaque build-up. This test can also detect plaque and distinguish the type of soft friable plaque that most often results in an acute event.

Central Blood Pressure and Pulse Wave Analysis

SphygmoCor CP™ non-invasively measures the actual pressure the heart, brain and kidneys experience. It identifies central aortic pressure and determines how much pressure comes from diseased or stiffened arteries. We discover your heart’s relative workload, and the ratio of the heart’s demand for oxygen to the available supply. Far beyond traditional blood pressure cuff measurements, we can actually determine your relative vascular age.

Vascular Assessment

MaxPulse™ —  using Accelerated Photoplethysmography, this non-invasive functional technique provides a dynamic look at the current state of vascular health through clinically relevant data such as endothelial function. Functional testing provides the earliest assessment of risk, often well before any structural changes, like plaque, have occurred. Depending on the intervention, improvement can be seen in days to weeks.

Low intensity Acoustic Wave Therapy (Shockwave therapy)

Low intensity extracorporal shock wave therapy (Li-ESWT) induces tissue regeneration, neo-angiogenesis (new blood vessels) and improve endothelial function and reduction of inflammation.  This all enhances blood flow. These effects are thought to be mediated by enhanced expression of vascular endothelial growth factor, endothelial nitric oxide synthase, and proliferating cell nuclear antigen.  Li-ESWT has been studied for management of musculoskeletal disease, ischemic cardiovascular disorders, Peyronie’s Disease, erectile dysfunction (ED) and more recently in female sexual sexual dysfunction.  Shockwave treatment for erectile dysfunction is successful as a stand-alone application and can also be used in combination with other forms of treatment. Shockwave treatment can therefore be successfully combined with PRP applications, vacuum pumps or also PDE-5 inhibitors (vasodilators), among others.

DEXA Body Composition Analysis with CoreScan™

Nutrition, exercise and aging may have profound effects on body composition. With dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) we look beyond weight and traditional body mass index (BMI) to determine body fat distribution – an important risk factor in many serious diseases. DEXA is the gold standard for determining body composition A full body scan shows fat percentage, lean body mass, fat mass and the distribution of fat and lean tissue in the arms, trunk, and legs. CoreScan provides a quantitative measure of visceral abdominal fat— the fat associated with disease risk.

Brain Health and Cognitive Screening

Cambridge Brain Sciences (CBS Health)  is a secure and powerful computerized cognitive assessment platform using a highly engaging suite of cognitive tasks, validated through decades of research. It assesses reaction time, processing speed, memory, attention/executive functioning and mental status to track brain health over time as part of our cognitive treatment and wellness plans to monitor neuro-cognitive health, screen for early signs of cognitive decline, dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.

DEXA Bone Density Test

Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) is the gold standard for measuring bone mineral density (BMD). Safe and painless, it provides important information about bone health. It shows the amount of bone mineral in the most important areas, including the spine and hips. Our GE Lunar Prodigy scanner is the only machine in the state that can measure Trabecular Bone Score—assessing the microarchitecture of the bone for a more precise fracture risk assessment.

Spirometry and Lung Age

Spirometry is a type of pulmonary function test (PFT) that provides information about the volume and speed of airflow through the lungs. It can help to diagnose the presence and severity of lung diseases. It also provides an estimate of lung age based on your functional parameters.

Comprehensive Laboratory Testing

Our blood panels provide much more in-depth information about your current health than standard blood tests. We incorporate disease biomarkers, hormone levels, measures of every organ system function, metabolic and nutritional status, neuro-transmitters, telomere/ chromosome analysis, genetic and epigenetic markers.
